Sam Friedman makes games as a hobby. Blind Spot is his first game to be publicly available.
Sam Friedman grew up playing games of all sorts. His favorites were always the puzzlers and world-exploring games, but he played everything from Super Mario World to Mortal Kombat to Myst to Resident Evil and loved all of it. As he grew up, his love of games went with him. In high school, it was games like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. In college, it was games like Guitar Hero and Katamari Damacy. After college, he started getting into the indie world, finding favorites in games such as Braid and Fez. It was then that a friend invited him to start learning how to develop in Unity with him. That started a new kind of love; instead of playing, he found passion in making games. For a few years, Sam made games on his own without really sharing them publicly. A space exploration game, a game to teach his nephew how to count to ten. After a few years, Sam wanted to get into software development more seriously. This involved all kinds of projects with Python, Raspberry Pi's, Arduino's, DSLR's, but always included games.Blind Spot
One day, Sam was in a cab traveling cross-town in LA (spoiler alert, this kind of trip can take a while). He started having an anxiety attack. He couldn't go to any of his usual tools: no crossword puzzle, he would get motion sick; no guided meditation, he didn't have headphones; no call to Mom, too embarassing to talk about in the company of a stranger. Wishing he had something to do on his phone that would focus his attention but wouldn't require him to look at the screen, the concept for Blind Spot was born. By the end of the cab ride, he had the whole thing laid out. Within a couple of months, a basic version of the game was built and submitted to IndieCade, where it was subsequently accepted.
